Valparaiso Parks Discovery Day Camps Registration Open

Registration for the summer Discovery Day Camps is currently open at the Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation. The weeklong day camps are open to children ages 5-14 and are held June 8 – August 14 at Rogers-Lakewood Park. Discovery Camp, for campers ages 5-12 (entering K-6), offers children the opportunity to spend the summer outdoors, meet new friends, and learn a variety of new skills such as boating, sports, arts and crafts, archery, outdoor cooking, and swimming.

For older campers, kids entering 7th & 8th grade, there is Ranger Camp where they learn first-hand about nature and the environment, while enjoying hiking, boating, camp cooking and more.  The hours for camp are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday; with before and after camp care available daily to accommodate working parents.

The weekly fee for Discovery Camp is $70/80* ($60/70* resident discount). The weekly fee for Ranger Camp is $75/$85* ($65/$75* resident discount) The extended camp care is $15 for the week per morning or afternoon session. Returning for our younger campers, ages 3-5, is Discovery Adventurers.  Children will be introduced to the wonderful adventures of day camp through weekly themed crafts, games, stories, hikes and much more.  The hours for Discovery Adventurers is 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, weekly June 9 through July 30.  Discovery Adventurers will meet at the Hickory Grove Shelter inside Rogers-Lakewood Park.  The weekly fee for Discovery Adventurers is $43 ($33 resident discount).
