Valparaiso Police Introduce Two New K9s

Off-Cordova-and-K9-SabreThe Valparaiso Police Department has added two new K9s to the department.

Both dogs were purchased at FM K9 in Elkhart, Indiana and both dogs are from Poland.

Valparaiso’s newest K9 team member is Officer John Cordova, he recently received a 20 month old German Shepherd named “Sabre”. This is Officer Cordova’s first K9 partner.

Officer Jerame Simpson recently retired his first K9 (Cario) and has now received a 2yr old Belgian Malino named “Rico”.

Both officers recently received 8 weeks of training with their K9 partners and both Rico and Sabre are certified through the North America Police Work Dog Association in the areas of narcotic detection, building searches, tracking suspects, article searching and aggression.

The new K9s bring the department’s total number of K9s to four .
