"The Valparaiso Triathlon went very smoothly", said race director Barbie Johnson, adding "This was one of the more relaxing preparations I've done. Thankfully, we've had loyal volunteers and long time staff members that are familiar with the event."
The Valparaiso Triathlon of 2011 was held at Rogers Lakewood Park on July, 16, 2011. This triathlon was special because of Kyle's Challenge. Dr. Paul Sommer carried Kyle Polhemus through out the entire swim, bike and run. Kyle suffers from Muscular Dystrophy.
Dr. Sommer carried Kyle to help raise money for wheelchair lifts for Kyle's home and for summer camp scholarships for kids with Muscular Dystrophy. You can still pledge a donation at www.familyfoot.com.
Dr. Sommer thanked Kyle for his enthusiasm and also his family, father Ben, mother Jill, sister Elyse and brother Aiden Polhemus, for their daily strength and endurance in helping Kyle "live life to the fullest."
Official Sponsor for The Valparaiso Triathlon was Porter Health. On hand for Porter Health was Jonathan Nalli, C.E.O. for Porter Health. Nalli opened up the award ceremony by congratulating all competitors and saying "All competitors are all incredible athletes and all embody 'wellthy' living."
