Last Thanksgiving, the Valparaiso Swim Club held its 6th annual Turkey Trot. The 10k competitive run and 5k run/walk was held Thanksgiving morning to benefit both the Valparaiso Swim Club and The Caring Place.
2009 marked record numbers for the Turkey Trot with over 900 participants in both the 10k run and the 5k run/walk. Along with record numbers of participants, over 100 volunteers showed up race morning to help out.
The Trot was able to raise $4,000 for The Caring Place, a local shelter and agency dedicated to the fight against domestic violence and sexual assault. The donation will help in providing food, clothing, and other basic necessities for the victims and their children. Thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and participants!
