Valparaiso University Fourth Annual Great Lakes High School Chinese Speech Contest

CIVU-HS-Chinese-1The Master of Arts in Chinese studies (MACS) program and Confucius Institute of Valparaiso University (CIVU) are proud to announce the Fourth Annual Great Lakes High School Chinese Speech Contest. We invite high school students from the Great Lakes area to gather together on Valparaiso University's campus to display their Chinese language skills in a good-spirited competition. Students' performance will be judged by a panel made up of three Chinese language teachers and distinguished Chinese speakers in the area community. The competition will be followed by an awards ceremony with prizes and a dinner! Students will be grouped and judged according to two levels:

  • Level 1: For students with one or two years of high school Chinese language study Conversational dialogues in groups of two or three on topics relating to everyday life.
  • Level 2: For students with more than two years of high school Chinese language study Individual speeches on a topic

How to register: High school teachers of Chinese in the Indiana and Illinois area should send a list of interested students to the following e-mail address, including the following information:
