The Department of Music at Valparaiso University welcomes the United States Air Force Concert Band and the Singing Sergeants on Monday, April 7 at 7 p.m at the Chapel of the Resurrection.
The United States Air Force Concert Band, a symphonic wind ensemble and one of the finest professional concert bands in the world, presents more than 100 concerts annually and performs a wide variety of compositions from light classics, popular favorites, and instrumental features to classical transcriptions and original works. Its members represent the “best-of-the-best” in musical talent and education within the Air Force.
The Singing Sergeants, the official chorus of the United States Air Force, is one of the world’s most versatile and traveled choral organizations. Originally formed in 1945 from the ranks of The United States Army Air Force Band, the chorus has a long heritage of excellence. The Singing Sergeants have appeared before every chief executive of the United States since President Truman, and they regularly perform at events for the White House, State Department, Department of Defense, as well as for many other high-level military and civilian functions. Using music to bridge language, cultural, and other differences, the Singing Sergeants’ performances advance international relationships by inspiring positive and long-lasting impressions of the United States and the United States Air Force.
This concert presents a unique opportunity to see world-class musicians perform in the magnificent Chapel of the Resurrection. There is no cost to attend, and tickets are required.
