VU-Webb-Named-Horizon-League-Golfer-of-the-WeekWebb Named Horizon League Golfer of the Week
The good news continued to pour in for the Valparaiso University men’s golf team on Wednesday afternoon as senior Peter Webb (Madison, Wis. / James Madison Memorial) was named the Horizon League Golfer of the Week for the second time this season and the sixth time in his collegiate career.

Webb continued his stellar senior season with another strong performance at Ball State's Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational in Muncie. He carded a 209 in the event to finish in third of 85. Webb's best round was Round 1, when he stroked a 68. He finished one stroke under par and one stroke behind the two players who tied for first.

Webb led all Horizon League golfers in a field that also included Cleveland State, Wright State, Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State. Since the Valpo men's golf program resumed in 2009, there have been 23 rounds of 68 or lower. Webb owns over half (12) of those rounds.

Webb and the Crusaders will compete in the Horizon League Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. beginning on Sunday, April 23.

Seitz, Wittmann Named to Horizon League All-Academic Team
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team continued to receive recognition for its academic and athletic success on Wednesday as the Crusaders placed two golfers on the five-member Horizon League all-academic team.

Senior Nick Seitz (Xenia, Ohio / Carroll) and sophomore Mitchell Wittmann (Kaukauna, Wis. / Kaukauna) were honored as two of the five players on the all-academic team, which was voted on by the Horizon League Faculty Athletics Representatives from each of the league’s 10 institutions.

Seitz and Wittmann helped the Crusaders compile the highest team GPA in the country in 2015-16.

Seitz, a two-time all-league performer who ranks second on the team in scoring average at 74.61, has notched his third academic all-league selection. The Biology & Chemistry major is one semester away from finishing his four-year degree with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Seitz was the 2017 Valparaiso Laurel Award Winner, given to the graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. He is a two-time all-league award winner and has posted three rounds of even par or better in five events this year.

Wittmann, who holds a 3.96 GPA as a finance major, had his best round of the season on Sept. 20 when he carded a 69 (-1) at the Ram Masters Invitational.

Seitz, Wittmann and the Crusaders will compete in the Horizon League Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. beginning on Sunday, April 23.
