VU-Valpo-Softball-to-Host-Pair-of-Winter-CampsValpo Softball to Host Pair of Winter Camps
The Valparaiso softball program will be hosting a pair of camps for campers ages 8-21 this winter. The Crusaders will host an All-Skills Camp at the ARC on Sunday, January 15, and a Pitching, Catching and Hitting Camp at the ARC on Sunday, February 5.

At the All-Skills Camp, participants will receive instruction from the entire Valpo softball staff. Additionally, members of the current team will be present to help with instruction and interact with the campers. Campers will participate in high intensity defensive drills, as well as advanced hitting drills used daily to prepare the Valpo softball team. Small group instruction will be used for both hitting and defense, guaranteeing ample camper instruction.

At the Pitching, Catching and Hitting Camp, campers will receive instruction from the entire Valpo softball staff and team members. The pitching session will provide an overview of the fundamental mechanics that are essential to being a dominant pitcher at any level. Pitchers will go through drills utilized for pitching speed and endurance, as well as pitch movement. The catching session will provide instruction on the essential skills to becoming a collegiate catcher, with an emphasis on receiving, blocking, and throwing. The hitting session will teach proper swing fundamentals, drills for success, and the different offensive approaches.

The All-Skills Camp costs $75, while the pitching and catching sessions of the latter camp cost $70 and the hitting session $85. Campers can also package either the pitching or the catching session with the hitting session for $125. Pitchers who attend the pitching session for the February 5 camp must bring their own catcher.
