The Valparaiso Woman's Association recently hosted their annual Short Story Contest. Six local middle school students were recognized for their exceptional writing and received monetary prizes for their efforts. Stories were judged by Steve and Linda Cronk and the winners presented their outstanding pieces at the March meeting of the Valparaiso Woman's Association. Awarded with an honorable mention were:
Ruth Stamp (Immanuel Lutheran), Abby Zolla (BFMS), and Anna Senese (TJMS). Joana Ramirez (Immanuel Lutherean) received third place and Adrienne Hein (BFMS) placed in second. First place was awarded to Lucia Otten (TJMS) for her story Fireflies. A luncheon was served to the student writers and their guests after the presentation of their stories.
