The Valparaiso High School boys golf team held off stiff competition from Crown Point and Merrillville on Tuesday as the Vikings came away with a 149 (Valpo) – 162 (Crown Point) – 181 (Merrillville) win.
Valpo’s Logan Bertalan tied the Bulldogs’ Nick Grubnich with a one-under-par 35 at Forest Golf Course’s front-nine. Valpo secured the next top four spots with Kyle Meihofer (37) and Jeff Lenz (38), followed by JT Baldwin and Bobby Jacobs who tied at 39.
The Vikings’ next meet will take place on Friday at LaPorte’s Beechwood Golf Course for the Uebele Tournament, the oldest tournament in high school boys’ golf.
