Valpo Boys Track & Field Team Wins DAC Meet

On May 11, 2011 Valpo attended the DAC (Duneland Athletic Conference) in Merrillville. Valpo won the DAC with 109 points. Competing were Valparaiso 109, Chesterton 107, Portage 106.5, Merrillville 75, LaPorte 70.5, Lake Central 70, Crown Point 58, Michigan City 21.

There was some exciting competition to watch. Valpo's own Ahmad Aljobah competing against LaPorte's Mitch Hubner is always an exciting event. I was able to watch these two guys during this years Cross Country season. At their last competition together in Chesterton on May 3, in the 1600 (1 mile) Hubner narrowly took first with a time of 4:23.66 to Aljobeh 4:29.83 taking third.

At the DAC, Aljobeh took back first with a time of 4:22.23 to Hubner 4:24.49 taking second. These guys are what it's all about, showing their talents on the field or track and showing good sportsmanship when the other wins. Aljobeh also won the 3200 (2mile) with a time of 9:54.74, taking second was Valpo's Peyton Reed with a time of 9:57.41.

Also mentioning Andrew Kittridge who narrowly took second in the trials of the 110x10 hurdles by .03 seconds and later taking first for the win with a time of 14:95 in the finals. Kittridge has been a consistent hurdler all season.

Exceeding in the field events at the DAC was Jordan Romanov. Romanov placed in both the long jump and high jump. Romanov placed third in the high jump with a jump of 6-04.00 and placing first in the long jump with a jump of 21-09.50.

Congratulation to all participating Athletes & Coaches. The JV DAC will be held at Chesterton High School on Saturday, May 14 starting at 9am.
