Valpo closes Sugar Bowl Invitational Sunday

The Valpo bowling team finished out its first tournament of the season Sunday morning, closing out the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational in Harahan, La. with its final three matches of the weekend.

How It Happened

-          Valpo opened Sunday’s action, which consisted of best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play, against Alabama State. Valpo rolled a 205 in its opening game, but ASU rolled a 215 to claim the opener and went on to hand the Brown and Gold a 4-0 loss.

-          The defeat dropped Valpo into a matchup against Tusculum. Tusculum won the first two games, and while Valpo took games three and five, it was never able to even up the match as Tusculum won 4-2.

-          Valpo’s final match of the weekend found it taking on Southern. Valpo rolled a 205 to win the opening game, but Southern came back and won the next four as Valpo fell 4-1.
