Valpo Finishes Indoor Season at HL Championship

VU-Valpo-Finishes-Indoor-Season-at-HL-ChampionshipThe Valparaiso women’s track and field team concluded their indoor season on Sunday at the Horizon League Indoor Championship at Youngstown State. The Crusaders finished in a tie for sixth place with 34 points.

Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) took second in the high jump as she cleared 1.62m/5-3.75.

Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) shaved ten seconds off her season best in the mile as she crossed the finish line in 5:00.27 and finished in third place. Tori Tamburrino (West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs) also ran a season best 5:37.53 to finish in 13th place. Bloy also took tenth in the 3,000 meter run, crossing the line in 10:31.70.

The 4x400 meter relay of Hannah Reynard (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon), Allison Baylor (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), Asia Banks (Richton Park, Ill./Marian Catholic), and Kelli Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) set the second fastest time in school history as they crossed the line in 4:01.79 to finish in sixth place.

The Crusaders start their outdoor season in a fortnight when they travel to the Butler Opener on March 21.
