The Valparaiso Area Girl Scouts were awarded the “Best Little Kernel Award” for their float entry in the Popcorn Festival Parade on Sept. 9th. With the theme “Faces of Girl Scouting,” the float depicted 4 life-sized Girl Scouts decorated in cornmeal, popcorn, other corn products. A Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette Girl Scout circled round and round as they made their way through the parade route. The traditional Girl Scout trefoil showed the faces of many of our local girls and adults who live in Valparaiso and Washington Twp.
September is registration month for girls and adults who would like to join Girl Scouting. An informational and sign-up meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Valparaiso Public Library, Room B.
