The Valparaiso High School girls varsity basketball team went on the road to face off against their Duneland Athletic Conference rival Merrillville Pirates, and fell 68-53.
The Vikings were unable to overcome a slow first half, but did outscore Merrillville 31-28 in the second half. Valpo was led by Katherine Berning’s 13 points, three assists and two rebounds, while Grace Withrow added 11 points, three assists, and two steals. Merrillville’s Victoria Gaines led all scorers with 22 points.
The Vikings next game will take place at Valparaiso High School, as they face off against the Michigan City Wolves on November 25, 2011 at 7:30pm.
