Valpo Grad Bartholomew Takes 12th in Weight Throw at USA Indoor Championships

Valparaiso graduate and current assistant coach Steve Bartholomew competed this past weekend in the weight throw at the 2010 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, finishing in 12th place.

Bartholomew, who holds Crusader program records indoors in the weight throw and outdoors in the discus throw and hammer throw, posted his best distance on the first of his three throws with a toss of 63’11 ½”. Bartholomew qualified for the national championships at the Illinois State Redbird Open back on December, registering a mark of 65’7”.

This was the second straight year that Bartholomew has competed at the indoor national championships. As the season transitions outdoors, he will move to his outdoor speciality, the hammer throw, in hopes of qualifying for the outdoor championships, which will be held in late June.
