Valpo Men’s, Women’s Swimming Named CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA), as announced by the organization today.

The women’s team earned the honor, which was awarded based on the spring 2019 semester, with a 3.29 semester grade point average, while the men picked up the accolade with a team semester GPA of 3.03. The women’s squad was named a Scholar All-America Team for a second consecutive semester, while the men’s team received recognition for the first time under head coach Miriam Wagner.

The team academic honors for the swimming program follow a pair of individual academic accolades which were presented at the conclusion of the season. On the men’s side, Robbie Bretl (Wauwatosa, Wis./Marquette University H.S.) repeated as a member of the Summit League Academic All-League team, his third consecutive Academic All-League award. Meanwhile, representing the women’s team, Casey Main (Fairview, Ohio/Fairview) was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team.
