Valpo Night Ride Registration
Registration is still available for the 4th Valpo Night Ride taking place on Saturday, August 23. The 15-mile organized bicycle ride that takes cycling enthusiasts on a night ride in and around the City at their own safe pace. Organized by the Valpo Parks Department and the city’s Pathways Committee, the event offers fitness activity, food and fun. Those under age 10 must be accompanied by adult or in a pull-behind or tandem bike. Price is $40 per person for ages 10 and up; $30 for those under age 10.
Fitness Class at Fairground Parks LifeTrail Equipment
The LifeTrail® Advanced Wellness System at Fairgrounds Park is the site of this new exercise class taught by Faithful Road Fitness and endorsed by the Valpo Parks Department. A certified trainer will instruct class three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday starting September 2 through October 10, at 5:30 AM rain or shine. Sessions start and end with a fitness test to gauge participant progress. This first session will instruct users how to utilize the equipment for weight loss and burning fat. Price is $75 per person.
Popcorn Panic Registration
The traditional race that marks the beginning of the Popcorn Fest for many with the 5 mile run or 5K walk takes place Saturday, September 6 at Central Park Plaza. Start time is 7:30 AM for those ages 10 and over. Register online, at the Parks office or at Extra Mile Fitness. Price is $35 per person.
Lit’l Kernel Puff Registration
Kids aged 2 to 9 years old can participate in the race tradition of Popcorn Fest with this kid-friendly version! Kids run for fun in age group heats; distances vary from 100 to 300 yards. Everyone who runs receives a participation ribbon. Register early as space is limited to 675 kids. Price is $20 per person.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi registration is open for the next session which begins September 23. Classes take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Village Park Enrichment Center. The programs are accessible for just about anyone; they are easy-to-learn, safe and aim to empower people to improve health and wellness. Check out the class choices at valpoaprks.org. Price for each 8 week session is $80.
Wedding Dance Class
Learn a variety of dance steps that are perfect for weddings and other social occasions. Classes are held at Village Park Enrichment Center on Mondays beginning September 15 through November 3 from 6 to 7:30 PM. Price is $75/87 per couple or $40/52 per individual. Register by September 3.
Indoor Golf Simulator
Golf in all kinds of weather – hot, cold, or rainy. Creekside Golf Course offers tee times for the state of the art simulators that has over 40 courses from around the world. Summer rates are $5 per half hour or $10 per hour. Call 219-531-PUTT for tee times.
