Valpo’s Independence Day Celebration
The City's free Fourth of July event is Friday, July 4 at the Thomas Jefferson Elementary and Middle Schools. Beginning at 6:30 PM, enjoy live music from The Unit and the VHS Band. Ace Pyro will put on a fireworks display at approximately 9:30 PM. Parking at TJ Middle School Soccer Field Complex with additional parking at Old Fairgrounds Park. It is suggested to carpool, ride your bike or walk to the celebration. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

Valpo Tri Online Registration
Registration is available online for the Saturday, July 12 sprint length triathlon. The event begins and ends in Rogers-Lakewood Park and is great for competitive athlete as well as the triathlon novice. Register online at Price is $70 for USAT members, $82 for all others. Team price is $130 plus $12 per non-USAT member on the team. Registration is available through July 6.

Volunteer for Valpo Tri
On Saturday, July 12 the Valpo Tri needs dozens of volunteers to assist with all areas of the 12th annual event – transition area, food tent, run and bike courses, finish line, body marking and more. Go to and click on the “Volunteer” tab to register online.

Adult Softball Fall League Rosters Now Due
The August 4 through September 25 season has extended the registration deadline to Tuesday, July 11. The team price is $475 plus $12 per non-resident team member. Bring full signed roster to the Parks Office for registration and payment.

July Specials at Lakewood for Dog Owners
Enter the 122-acre Rogers-Lakewood Park by car before Noon on Mondays with your dog and get $2.00 off the parking fee. (Dog owners are reminded to leash and scoop.) This special is good through the month of July.

Valpo Night Ride Registration
Registration is available for the 4th Valpo Night Ride taking place on Saturday, August 23. The 15-mile organized bicycle ride that takes cycling enthusiasts on a night ride in and around the City at their own safe pace. Organized by the Valpo Parks Department and the city’s Pathways Committee, the event offers fitness activity, food and fun. Price is $30 per person by Auguts 8; $40 after August 8. Age 10 and under must be accompanied by adult or in a pull-behind or tandem bike.
