The Valpo Parks Foundation to safely celebrate Valpo’s extraordinary culture of volunteerism and generosity with its 12th annual celebration of “Friends and Legends”. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, October 1 at the William E. Urschel Pavilion in Central Park Plaza from 4:30-6:30 pm. The free event thanks all who have helped support the continuing legacy of high-quality experiences provided by Valpo Parks.
Bob Spaulding, Jr. will be honored with the Community Champion Award for his exceptional volunteerism and generosity in leading the efforts to create the Creekside Trails Mountain Bike Trail.
In this year 2020 of celebrating 75 years of Valpo Parks, the Foundation is giving the Legendary Friend Award to the law firm of Douglas, Koeppen & Hurley for 75 years of counsel, service and generosity to Valpo Parks. George Douglas served as counsel from 1945-1958, Herb Douglas from 1959-1993, and Brad Koeppen from 1994-2020.
Ivan and Pat Bodensteiner will be given the Park Foundation’s highest honor, the Art and Irene Malasto Legends Award for their extraordinary and consistent generosity to Valpo Parks and the Valpo Parks Foundation. Ivan and Pat are legendary volunteers and philanthropists to many causes for the community and region they have called home.
The business casual gathering is offered at no cost due to generous sponsors. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, with brief presentations at 5:15 PM.
