Discovery Cottage Classes for 3 to 12 year olds
Themed sessions like Ready, Set, Go; Cooking at the Cottage; and Science Seekers, are offered by Valpo Parks at Discovery Cottage located at 1155 Harrison Boulevard. Youth Volleyball for 2nd – 5th graders
Signups are about to end for the new coed sports league for the winter time, where kids have fun while learning volleyball. Registration runs through December 21 with the season from January 7 to March 2; first game is January 26. Teams will practice once a week on Wednesday or Thursday. Games will be on Saturday afternoons. All practices and games will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Valparaiso (354 Jefferson St.). Price is $55/$65 which include a Boys & Girls Club annual membership. Boys & Girls Club Members receive $25 off at registration with current Club ID. Register at the Valpo Parks office at 3210 N Campbell St, Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
Baseball and Softball Youth Skills Sessions
The next sessions of Baseball and Softball Skills Clinics are Sunday, December 16 and the topics are pitching and catching. Players from the VU teams & volunteer coaches from Valpo Parks will help instruct the one hour Sunday sessions. Each session reinforces the fundamentals of the game. No registration required. Kids can come to as many sessions as desired through January 20. Softball meets 3:30 -4:30 PM. Baseball meets 6:30-7:30 PM. Junior Golf for 3 to 18 year olds
Several different golf sessions are available for ages 3 to 18 years on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Check out the Junior 101 and 202 classes, Li’l Tigers & Linksters Academies and LPGA Girls Golf. Youngsters can attend one session or all of them, each session incorporating different aspects of the game of golf. Prices range from $10 to $30 per class plus range balls. Valpo Parks has instructional opportunities for juniors of all skill levels, instructed by Nancy Bender, LPGA teaching professional at Creekside Golf Course and Training Center 2355 Clifford Road in Valparaiso.
