Valpo Parks Lights Up Holiday Season November 24th

‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’ at the Valparaiso Central Park Plaza! From pictures with Santa, figure skating performances to carolers, this holiday weekend couldn't get any better! Oh, and did we mention the upcoming EPIC tree lighting? 

The Valpo Parks Department’s Annual 1st Source Bank Winter Fest and Tree Lighting on Saturday, November 24th. Residents are invited to join the staff and friends at the William E. Urschel Pavilion for a magical family event to ring in the holiday season.

Chris Mahlmann sat with the Executive Director of Valpo Parks, John Seibert, Business Operations Director, Kevin Nuppnau, the Director of Facilities, Dan McGuire and the Executive Assistant, Helene Pierce to talk about the upcoming fest. Seibert explains the purpose of the fest is to remind residents that there are a ton of holiday flavored events on the way.

“We have an INCREDIBLE lineup for families for this year’s Winter Fest’ said Seibert. ‘The holiday tree lights will turn on with a crowd countdown at 5:15 with cookies and hot chocolate,’ Seibert added. “The amphitheater will host a performance from the Jingle Tones followed by photos with Santa, then attendees can see a figure skating performances at the plaza by Midwest Training & Ice Center Entertainment.”

The holiday tree is decorated with 19,000 lights and is sponsored by 1st Source Bank, The Allure: Premier Wedding Venue, and Flower Cart. Festivities will kick off at 68 Lafayette Street from 4 to 6 p.m.

The ice rink will be open to the public from 4-10 p.m that evening. Admission and skate rental is $7. Anyone who presents a receipt from a downtown Valpo small business will receive a special rate. Central Park Plaza Rink will be also be open Thanksgiving night from 6-10 p.m.
