Due to weather the IHSAA Regional Meet was rescheduled for Friday, May 27. Valparaiso hosted the meet at Portage High School. Valparaiso Placed 4th in the Top 5 schools that participated. Making the top 5 were Chesterton 1st with 73 points, 2nd LaPorte 55, 3rd Portage 52.70, 4th Valparaiso 51, 5th Merrillville 37 & Crown Point tying for 5th with 37 points.
Other school participating were: Lake Central 33, Bowman Academy 31, Hobart 28, Morgan Township 28, Munster 27.5, Andrean 27, Hanover Central 22, Griffith 19, East Chicago Central 18, Hebron 17, Michigan City 10, Gary West Side 8, Kouts, 8, New Prairie 7, Highland 7, North Judson-San Pierre 6, Kankakee Valley 5, Hammond Morton 5, Gary Wallace 3, Hammond Bishop Noll Inst. 2, Lowell 2, Hammond High 2, River Forest 2.
Placing 1st in their events from Valparaiso High School were: Ahmad Aljobeh in the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 9:39.71 Preliminaries 9:42.11 Finals. Regional Meet Record for the 3200 is 8:53.90 set in 1975 by Rudy Chapa from Hammond High. Also Andrew Kittridge in the 110x10 Hurdles with a time of 15.24 Preliminaries 14.99 Finals. Regional Meet Record of 13.80 was set back in 1975 by Greg Robertson from SB LaSalle. And Jordan Romanov Jumping Long Jump with a jump of 22-04.50 in the Finals. Regional Meet Record set in 2004 by Nolan Patties of 24-00.00 from Andrean. Great job all participants.
Indiana IHSAA State Mens Track & Field Meet will be Friday, June 3 at Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Field events to start at 2:15pm (our time). Trials to start at 4:00pm (our time) Meet Finals to start at 5:15 (our time). They are 1 hour ahead so adjust your time to compensate so you don't miss out on any events. Go Valpo!!!
