Valpo Planning Director Resigns

Valparaiso-Vibrant-VisionaryCraig Phillips, Planning Director for the City of Valparaiso has resigned, announced Mayor Jon Costas. Phillips joined the city in 2004 and has led efforts to shape the city since that time, creating the Unified Development Ordinance, managing the annexation of more than 2.5 square miles to the city, developing the façade grant program that has led to dramatic improvements downtown, and making plans for the GreenTown conference to come to Valparaiso in 2012, promoting more environmentally friendly building practices.

We’re grateful for the positive contributions Craig has made to the city,” said Mayor Jon Costas. “We have an excellent team in place and we’re confident that projects Craig has initiated, including the ambitious citywide envisioning process, will continue uninterrupted. We all wish Craig all the best in his next chapter.” Tyler Kent, the city’s Assistant Planning Director, has been named Interim Planning Director, beginning March 1.
