Valpo Rotary Club Honors own with Four-Way Test Award

Since its inception in 1982, the Four-Way Test Award has been presented by the Valparaiso Rotary Club to a member who has demonstrated a unique commitment to the principles of the Four-Way Test.  For Rotary, the Four-Way Test is the cornerstone of all action and it is the foundation of Rotary’s motto: “Service above Self.”

Larry Klemz was living the Four-Way Test long before he was inducted as a member of Valparaiso Rotary Club in 2000.    “Perhaps that’s what makes him such a valuable member and a great example of unselfish kindness,” said 2009/2010 Valparaiso Rotary President Sharon Kish.  Kish presented the 2009 Four-Way Test Award to Klemz at the club’s annual Changing of the Guard dinner on June 29.

“Larry believes in Rotary’s mission and has worked hard to enhance Valparaiso Rotary’s visibility and reputation,” Kish remarked.  He has served on the Rotary Board and completed a term as Rotary’s President in 2007/2008.

A life-long Valparaiso resident and businessman, Klemz has an impressive record of community involvement.  He has served on various boards and risen to leadership positions in each organization:  Family and Youth Services Bureau, United Way of Porter County, Valparaiso YMCA, Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce, Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the Boy Scouts.  He is currently serving with the Porter County Museum Advisory Council and the Public Education Foundation of Valparaiso.  Klemz is president of Home Mountain Printing.
