Valpo Urging Residents to Stay Home

city-of-valparaisoDue to extreme weather conditions, City of Valparaiso is closing all non-essential offices tomorrow, Jan. 6, 2014. “Out of concern for safety, we’re encouraging all residents to stay home and off roadways until conditions improve,” said Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas. Additional snow, followed by brutal cold, is predicted for the next several days in Valparaiso. “Not only are residents safest at home, but staying off the roads allows us to focus on clearing snow and reaching emergencies,” said Costas.

The city has also postponed trash and recycling pick-ups by one day this week. Residents who ordinarily have trash and recycling picked up on Monday, will be on Tuesday this week, and so on. Residents should expect the normal schedule to resume on Jan. 13.
