Valpo Varsity, JV Volleyball Close Out Regular Season with Victories Over Bishop Noll

The Valparaiso High School volleyball teams closed out regular season play on Wednesday, traveling to Bishop Noll and bringing home two victories.

The varsity team came away with a 25-12, 25-14, 25-15 sweep of the Warriors, bringing their record to a stellar 29-3 on the year, with a 13-1 record in conference play. Brigid Scannell and Sara Clark each recorded eight kills for Valpo, with Tarrah Lasky adding 36 assists. Kate Workman scored four service aces and 15 digs, while Kelsie Schutz contributed six kills, four service aces, and seven digs in the match.

The JV team also swept Bishop Noll, winning a quick 25-13, 25-24 match that gave the Vikings a 22-7 record for the 2011 season (9-5 DAC). Morgan Mikenas led Valpo with five kills, followed by Sabrina Brown, Kathy Minko, and Kelli Kough who each contribute four. Mattie Chayhitz added 17 assists for the Vikings.

The varsity team will play their next game against Crown Point Bulldogs in the first round of the state sectional tournament. The JV team will play this Saturday in the JV Invite, both games are scheduled to be played at LaPorte High School.
