Valpo Volleyball Teams Have Rough Day at Lake Central

The Valparaiso High School volleyball teams traveled to St. John to face off against the Lake Central Indians, with all three teams falling in contention.

The Varsity Viking team lost 22-25, 23-25. 16-25, and was led by senior Carrie Clark’s 10 kills, 11 digs, and three block assists, while Tarrah Lasky added 30 assists and nine digs. Kate Workman also added in 16 digs for Valpo, while Brigid Scannell added in nine kills. The varsity team’s record fell to 13-2 (6-1 DAC).

The Junior Varsity team fell in two games, 11-25, 14-25, and was led by Mattie Chayhitz’ six digs and seven assists. Morgan Mikenas and Maddie Armold each contributed two kills, while Timi Stiscak added two solo blocks. The JV squad’s record fell to 14-5 (3-3 DAC).

The Viking freshman also had a rough go of it against the Indians, falling 15-25, 16-25 to drop their overall record to 11-5 on the season (2-5 DAC). Lauren Biesen led Valpo with five kills, Tina Matavulj added four. Emmy Chojecki contributed 14 assists, followed by Liz Rivich’s 7. Cassidy Robinson and Meredith Hite each put up four assists for the Vikings.
