The Valparaiso High School Quiz Bowl team won the 2014 "Making the Grade" championship Monday, April 28, at the studios of Lakeshore Public Television in Merrillville. VHS edged Chesterton in a close match to take the trophy after earlier besting Andrean and Portage. The competition tested the students' knowledge of science, literature, history, art and mathematics. The four VHS team members and one alternate won $500 scholarships sponsored by NIPSCO.
