VHS SADD Chapter Teams up with Valparaiso Police Department

valpopoliceStudents Learn of Drinking & Driving Dangers while still having Fun

On Monday (4/2/12) The Valparaiso High School Organization of Students Against Drunk Drivers, the Indiana State Chapter of SADD and the Valparaiso Police Department teamed up at Valparaiso High School to discuss the dangers of drinking and driving and the dangers of not wearing a seat belt.

Throughout the day students and officers spent time in the school’s fieldhouse driving golf carts with DUI goggles (simulating driving a vehicle while intoxicated), participating in the seat belt challenge, performing field sobriety tests with the DUI goggles and experiencing a 5 mph crash while wearing a seat belt.

Students learn of the dangers of making poor or destructive decisions while still having fun. Over 400 students participated in the activities.
