VHS Soccer Roundup vs. Chesterton (Recap & Photos)

The Valparaiso JV and Varsity soccer teams competed on a wet Wednesday afternoon against rival Chesterton. A series of rain storms fell on the Vikings’ home openers, eventually dying down by the second half of the second game.

The JV game was first, as the teams batted not only each other, but the downpour of rain. The JV Vikings ended up beating the Trojans 4-0.

The Varisty game was a hard battle, culminating in a score of 0-0 with an 11-10 PK victory for the Trojans. The Varsity game required tremendous stamina for both squads because the game required two scoreless halves, two scoreless overtimes, and an 11-10 shootout on a particularly wet and muggy night.

There was a good crowd was out for both games from Chesterton and Valpo. I was impressed at the discipline and leadership shown by the Valpo coaches, who are obviously teaching the kids a lot about teamwork and staying very focused for every moment the kids are playing.

We are hosting a TON of photos from these games, so click here to check out the gallery.

The Vikings’ next game is away this Saturday against soccer powerhouse Naperville
