VHS Tennis Star Marc Shideler Signs National Letter of Intent with Western Michigan

Valparaiso High School senior Marc Shideler today signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis for the Western Michigan University.

Shideler was a four-year MVP for the Vikings and competed as the number-one singles player, posting 72 wins throughout his four years.

Speaking in front of family, teammates, and friends in a small ceremony at the high school, Shideler simply said, “I just want to say thanks to everyone, and thanks to my parents.

Western Michigan University is among the top programs in NCAA Division 1, as Shideler will join a Broncos team coming off an undefeated regular season as they finished atop the Mid-American Conference.

I’m as proud as I could be,” said Tim Shideler, Marc’s father and VHS tennis coach. “It’s something he always wanted to do. We’re all thrilled.

Shideler’s family has had success in the tennis realm at Valparaiso, as his grandfather, father, aunt, and uncle all participated in the Viking tennis program.

Congratulations to Marc and good luck on your career as a Bronco!
