The Valparaiso High School girls tennis team pulled a clean sweep of their Duneland Athletic Conference rival Portage Indians on Thursday, winning in straight sets 5-0.
In singles action, the Vikings’ Kelley Kennedy took down Kacie McGuire 6-2, 6-3; Caitlin Kennedy defeated Mandy Haudt 6-1, 6-0; and Sonja Schaefer beat Lauren Zack 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles action, Valpo saw similar success, with the team of Marissa Weston and Kate Spencer beat their Indians’ counterparts Bailey Lauritzen and Michelle Comerford 6-3, 7-5, while the duo of Ava Meyer and Brooke Sever defeated Abby Hargarten and Stefanie Nanney 6-2, 6-0.
