Valparaiso girls’ basketball continues to honor Valpo Legends. On Wednesday night, they recognized Jennifer Davis. Jennifer played at VHS from 1986 to 1989 for Coach Dave Kenning. In Jennifer’s senior year her team won Sectionals and Regionals, and advanced to Semi-State. They did not win semi-state but this was her favorite memory from her time playing at VHS. She really enjoyed her team, and loved all the memories they made. Jennifer holds the record of leading scorer in girls’ basketball with over 1,000 points. From her time playing at Valparaiso High School, she learned that if you work hard and work on progressing as a team together, things will go your way. Additionally, Jennifer played Volleyball and Softball, and was all state in all three sports she played, along with band. After her amazing career playing for Valparaiso, she received a full scholarship to play basketball at LaSalle University in Philadelphia. She played four years there and her senior year she led the nation in free throw percentage. She is also the only female athlete at LaSalle University with a jersey retired. Jennifer’s advice to any girl playing basketball at VHS right now would be to always practice and put forth effort, it pays off. High School basketball taught Jennifer to always enjoy the little moments in life, to enjoy the friends you have now in high school, as well as your teammates. Jennifer is now a Key Account Manager for Henkel and coaches youth basketball. She has been married to her husband Brad for 18 years with two daughters, Andrea and Allison. In addition Jennifer is also a part of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team.
