Viking Volleyball Team Sweeps Elkhart Central to Remain Undefeated

The Valparaiso High School volleyball program had a great Monday evening, with all three teams sweeping Elkhart Central at home and all three teams remaining undefeated for the 2012 season.

The Varsity team (3-0, 0-0) took down the Blue Blazers 25-12, 25-15, 25-17 to pick up their third win. Kate Bontrager led the Vikings with six kills on the day, followed by Madison Olsen’s five, while Noelle Eveland and Morgan Mikenas each adding four. Tarrah Lasky led the team with 15 assists and Mary Bobos led with 15 digs.

The junior varsity team (3-0, 0-0) also made quick work of ECHS, winning 25-20, 25-16. Liz Rivich led the team with five kills, followed by Kennedy Minko and Dani Suitor adding three apiece. Suitor also added 10 assists while Gabby Brown came away with 11 digs.

The freshman team also won 25-11, 25-16. Malerie Mech led the team with six kills while Natalie Gruszka added five kills and five digs. Katie Smith contributed 12 assists, three aces and three digs for the Vikings.
