The Valparaiso High School Boy’s Basketball team took another step in the state sectional tournament, defeating LaPorte High School 47-43 in a hard-fought battle that went down to the final minute of play.
Adam Butterfield led the Vikings with 19 points, with Jerrick Suiter notching 11 and Brad Karp finishing with 10. The win was sealed with a backdoor pass from Suiter to Karp with 15 seconds left on the clock to put the Vikings ahead by three.
The Vikings will move on to the Sectional Final on Monday night in Michigan City to face DAC-rival Merrillville, with whom the Vikings have split the series this season, with both teams winning on their respective home courts.
