Vikings Boys Basketball Team Falls in Both Weekend Battles

The Valparaiso High School boys varsity basketball team had a tough couple of weekend basketball games, facing off against Crown Point and Munster, coming into the state’s 13th and 6th ranked teams, respectively.

On Friday, Valpo fell to Crown Point in overtime 66-56. They were led by Jerrick Suiter’s 19 points and 6 rebounds, while Nick Galouzis and John Clymer each added ten in the losing effort. Adam Butterfield also added eight points and five assists.

On Saturday, the Vikings fell to the Munstangs 48-25. Despite a good defensive effort, Valpo started slowly with just seven first-half points against a tough Munster Mustang team. The Vikings shot just 21% from the field on 39 shots, and were led by Butterfield’s 13 points.

Valpo returns home this Friday against Chesterton (February 4th), as the Vikings try and head into the postseason on a positive note on “Meet the Vikings” night, followed by a tough road game on Saturday versus Bishop Noll Institute.
