Vikings Elevate to Fourth in Region Sports Network’s Top 10 Rankings

The Valparaiso High School boys’ basketball team rose up to a top-four team in Region Sports Network’s weekly Top 10 Rankings, featuring teams across northwest Indiana.

The 6-1 Vikings are currently seated behind #3 Andrean (5-0), #2 Munster (5-0), and #1 Lake Central (5-1) early in the season, and are coming off a big win in LaPorte last Friday. Here is an excerpt featuring Valparaiso from the RSN Top 10, which you can read in its entirety here:

4. Valparaiso (6-1, 3-1) Last Week – #6
Valparaiso has won three straight road games including two straight in the DAC last week so the Vikings jump up two slots to #4 in the RSN Top Ten. After the inexperienced Vikes won convincingly at Crown Point on Tuesday, they let a big lead slip away and just barely staved off a furious rally by La Porte on Friday; but the point is they did win. This young, inexperienced and undersized team is gaining experience and poise and should be a factor in the DAC race. Valparaiso is idle this week.

The Vikings’ next game will take place on December 27th, as the Vikings host the Chesterton Trojans on Virgil Sweet Night, where the high school plans on honoring one of the VHS basketball coaching legends!
