Vikings Girls Soccer Team Defeats Munster on “Meet the Vikes” Night

The Valparaiso High School girls soccer team defended their home field in front of many future Vikings on “Meet the Vikes” night, defeating the Munster Mustangs 2-1.

The Vikings, ranked 17th in the state as of September 3rd, continued their winning ways as one of Northwest Indiana’s top teams. Grace Withrow and Lauren Reineke each scored for VHS, with both goals coming off assists by Kaylee Pullins. Goalie Emma Kurt recorded two saves for Valpo.

The JV team also defeated their Mustang counterparts 3-1 before the varsity game.

The “Meet the Vikes” night also included free admission for all of the youth soccer players who came wearing their jersey and came with an adult. Five lucky future Vikings won prizes during a halftime raffle, and the Varsity team stayed after the game to sign autographs.

The Vikings next go on the road on Saturday afternoon to take on St. Joe before heading to Crown Point on Tuesday in a showdown of the region’s top teams.

We have hundreds of photos of both games and all of the festivities up in two galleries on our Photos section. Click here for photos from the JV game, and click here for photos of the Varsity game!
