Vikings Overcome Slow First Half to Defeat Michigan City

The Valparaiso High School boys varsity basketball team defeated the Michigan City Wolves 43-30 on Friday night.

The Vikings overcame a slow start in the defensive battle, scoring five points in the second quarter, and 16 overall in the first half. Their defense, though, held the Wolves to just two second quarter points, and in only one quarter the Wolves were able to put up a double digit point total.

Jerrick Suiter led the way for VHS with 13 points and seven rebounds while Jay Doane hit four big three pointers for the Vikings, totaling all 12 of his points, and also added six assists. Brent Hill put up an efficient eight points on 3-of-4 shooting, hitting two timely threes in the winning effort.

The Vikings next game will come next Friday night as they host DAC rival Portage at 7:30, which you will be able to listen to live on ValpoLife.com, courtesy of the Region Sports Network radio broadcast.
