Vikings Stay at #6 in Region Sports Network Regional Football Rankings

The Valparaiso High School varsity football team held the region’s sixth ranking in the most recent Region Sports Network’s Weekly Top Ten article for the second consecutive week.

The Vikings are coming off the first win of their season in a 47-14 victory at LaPorte High School last week, improving their record to 1-2 on the season. Valpo returns home this Friday to take on the Michigan City Wolves for Meet the Vikes Night on Friday, September 9, 2011. If you can’t make it to the game, be sure to tune in live on ValpoLife!

That’s more like it. But the huge win over LaPorte last week raises a big question – where was this team for the first two weeks? Viking and 5A fans might not like the answer, because it either means that this Valpo team was sleep-walking against both Penn and Carmel when they had a chance to show they belonged with the state’s elite, or the talent disparity between the Region’s 5A teams and the rest of the state is that huge. We’re gonna say it’s a little from Column A and a lot from Column B. Either way its good to see Valpo playing close to what their pre-season expectations are and with Michigan City coming to Viking field this week, there shouldn’t be much of a speed bump.
