vogelsang-time-for-the-talk-1Is it time for “The Talk” with your parents? Are you prepared for the decisions you will need to make to help your aging loved ones?

On Thursday, April 23, Vogelsang Asset Management, with the help of four key sponsors, will help to ease the unknowns by presenting a strategy session to help guide you through this time of your life. Candace Arvin will talk about how Home Helpers serves the community of people who want to remain independent in the place they call home, but require help in managing their everyday lives.

Karen Vogelsang will discuss how to talk with your parents about financial strategies you can use to help guide your parents and ease family concerns.

Kathy Sheely with Pines Village Retirement Communities will highlight some of the options of community living. She will discuss how the freedom and independence available at Pines Village can be a powerful advantage for your parents.

In addition, Michele Murphy-Wise of VNA Hospice will present some suggestions about how to care for your parents if they are terminally ill and other options if they need special care.

Also speaking at the event will be attorney Dana Rifai of Burke Costanza & Carberry. She will discuss various estate planning tools such as a will, trust, and a direct transfer of assets. She will also discuss the importance of a durable power of attorney, health care power of attorney, living will, and funeral planning declaration.

The event will take place at the Valparaiso Country Club at 2501 Country Club Road from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served during the session. Seating for this event is limited, so interested attendees are encouraged to call 219-462-0110 for more information and to reserve a spot.
