On Saturday, October 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Shirley Heinze Land Trust will be holding a volunteer workday at Bur oak Woods in Hobart.
On this workday we will be making a firebreak that will be used for a prescribed burn this fall or spring. Volunteers and staff will be using mowers, brushcutters, leaf blowers and loppers to clear a wide lane around the burn unit.
During lunch, learn all the details on the large savanna restoration taking place at this preserve and how fire can be used as a tool to aide in the restoration process. Lunch will be provided.
