Was it the Gumballhead ?

Friday I had a great time at lunch, and today I was thinking back as to why it was so great.

I was eating at Pikk’s, famous for their mini-burgers which I have every single time I go there they are so good.  Once I like stuff, I just stick with it.   Just thinking of them now I want to go have some.  Tasty, easy to eat, the kind of thing that you always can go back to and know it will be great.

I was there with many of our team members.  With all of our varying schedules days, nights, and weekends, and about as much structure as a garage start up company, we don’t often take the time to just have lunch at talk.  Sorely overdue, and I think we need about 50 of them to get caught up with all that is going on and each other’s lives as much as I would like to.  Only thing that would have made it better would be to have everyone on the team there, but to get that many together at once is a good start.  These people are the VL guy that you don’t always see behind the goofy out of shape guy running around with a camera that never shuts up long enough for them to shine.

I tried a Gumballhead bear for the first time and it was awesome.  Not sure it was the taste of the beer, the fact that I was having one for lunch as I am not much of a drinker at any time of the day, the relaxed atmosphere of Pikk’s, the good care of Sam and the rest of the staff there, the fun we were all celebrating and the anticipation of an action packed weekend starting with football that night, but that was one of the best tasting beers I have ever had.

My wife and daughter Peyton joined us so I got to mix family, business, and pleasure all in the same lunch.  Being a family business that Natalie is heavily involved in, they are never far away, but having them there with me to share with the people that I spend the rest of my Life with so to speak, always makes it better.

We weren’t celebrating anything in particular, and maybe that is why it was so much fun for me.  We had an awesome week on every front possible, we just hired a new Lifer to come on that starts Monday and we are looking to hire at least one more right now, Steindler did a crazy good job wrapping the new SUV from Arnell Motors, we were heading into covering a weekend of events that included Regional football championship at VHS, Candyland at OE, the Public Education Foundation Wine Tasting fundraiser, and the Portage Chamber awards banquet.  We were celebrating living through and building on another week in the Good News business.

With a new beer, a tasty burger, and a bunch of fun people that I care passionately about.  I don’t think it was just the Gumballhead.
