Weather Clears Up Just in Time for Fun-Filled Fireworks on the Lakefront

Despite the grumbling thunderstorm with rolling thunder and flashes of lightning over the previous night and during the early part of the day, well into the afternoon, the Chesterton /Duneland Chamber of Commerce hosted it's 3rd Annual Fireworks on the Lakefront July 1, 2011 to everyone's delight. The weather cleared for a nice cool evening, for families and friends alike, to come out to the Porter Beach and the Indiana Dunes State Park to listen to a live band, eat food from local vendors and, of course, watch the fireworks.

Chris & Lou were the choice band of the evening, playing a little bit of everything from your favorites, to new music from their cd's, self titled, "Chris & Lou" and "Sustain", of which they autographed happily for anyone that asked. The band also consisted not only of Chris & Lou on lead vocals and guitars but there was Shane on drums and Paul "from across the pond" on guitar.

Vendors were out supporting the event and offering tasty treats to the crowds too.

Vendors included: Leroy's Hot Stuff, El Salto's, George's, Popolano's, Good To Go and Lucrezia, Third Coast Spice, Dairy Queen Grill & Chill, Val's, Dr. Vegetable

Heather Ennis the Executive Director of the Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce said about the event, "I am so happy the weather cooperated and I am so happy for all the sponsorship. We couldn't ask for better partners like The Porter County Commissioners, Burns Harbor, Town of Porter, Town of Chesterton, Indiana Dunes State Park, The National Park Services and all the municipalities that participated in the Lakefront Fireworks not to mention all the great food vendors"

Robert Conrick, a 2011 graduate from Chesterton High School and Web Designer for the Town of Porter and a volunteer at the Lakefront Fireworks said, "I am happy to be volunteering tonight because it's my first time at the show and I think it will be an awesome fireworks show". Awesome it was, if you missed it, you'll have to wait for next year.
