Weather Policy Breaks Down Transportation, Office Decisions

pcacsPorter County Aging and Community Services Executive Director Bruce Lindner seeks to remind the community of the agency’s weather policy.

“With experts expecting a snowy winter season, we want to emphasize that our policy doesn’t necessarily follow what the local school officials decide,” Lindner said.

He said the agency will review weather conditions and determine, possibly separately, if the office will be closed or if there will be interruptions in transportation service.

“We carefully monitor road conditions as our buses don’t operate as well on slippery roads and some county roads. Also, our clients aren’t always able to clear their driveways or sidewalks in order to safely be picked up for a ride,” Lindner said. “Sometimes we keep our offices open for appointments but we will stop our transportation services.”
