Wendy Wectawski is Hospital’s April 2015 Ambassador of the Month

Wendy-WectawskiWendy Wectawski, who for nearly 12 years has served as an activities coordinator in the Behavioral Medicine department, is Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City’s April Ambassador of the Month.

The award has been presented by the hospital’s Social and Recognition Committee since 1988 and recognizes employees who exhibit the mission and values of Franciscan Alliance, which include compassion for those in need, respect for life and the dignity of mankind, wellness and prevention of illness, restoration to health and acceptance of death as the final step toward wholeness. Recipients also have demonstrated courtesy, the proper attitude and enthusiasm for their work.

Wectawski was nominated for the award by a patient who called her “very understanding, trustworthy and honest.”

Asked how she felt about receiving the honor, Wectawski said she was “very surprised,” adding, “It’s great to know a patient nominated me, as it can be challenging at times. My coworkers have been there to help me over the hurdles I have faced and I am very thankful for the friends in my life.”

She resides in Michigan City and has a daughter, son and grandson.

When she’s not working, Wectawski enjoys crafts, baking, traveling, reading and home projects.

In recognition of the honor, Wectawski, as are all Ambassador recipients, was honored with a special billboard display for the month, a privileged parking spot, an Ambassador badge holder, a photo on the Ambassador of the Month wall that displays the previous 12 months’ winners, $150 cash and an invitation to the annual Service Awards and Recognition Banquet.
