What Inspires You?

Every magazine you see for January has the theme of new beginnings—be it your home décor, your budget, or your health. We are inundated with images of how things can be improved by organizing our belongings, recalculating our finances, or energizing our bodies. In the dark days of winter, we seek for something to inspire us, to keep us going as the winter months and weather drag on and on.

I find that the best inspiration during a dreary day comes, not from some magazine guru’s wisdom, but from the simplest moments around me. The friend who pulls you to the window to appreciate the beautiful orange-pink of the winter morning’s sunrise, the child who comes bearing their birthday treat with beaming eyes and bubbling personality, the tender greeting a mother gives to her ill child sitting on one of the “hand” chairs clutching the notorious red bucket, the shared smile between teacher and student, the hearty laughter of 2 kindergartners waiting in the bus line.

I hope that everyone can find their inspiration in life’s simplest moments in 2013! Happy New Year!
