What’s Up Down There?: Annual SSO Wine Tasting to Help Solve That Question

SSO-6th-Annual-Wine-TastingJoin South Shore Orchestra on their next global wine tasting adventure that will delightfully and tastefully help you answer the question of “What’s Up Down There? “ on Sunday, August 28, 1-4 pm at Venue by Bistro located at 74 W Lincolnway in Valparaiso. The annual event continues the Global Expressions theme initiated by SSO’s Footprints in the Sand concert in June.

Wines will be featured from several Southern Hemisphere regions and served by four wine distributors who graciously volunteer their time to host the annual South Shore Orchestra event. Knowledgeable representatives from World of Wines, Vinture Wine Group, Carroll Company and Crossroads will graciously educate your palette and relate the unique characteristics of at least 25 different wines. Guests will be served delicious offerings designed by Chef Nicole Bissonette of Bistro 157 to compliment the flavors and theme of the day. This is the sixth annual tasting, which always proves to be a pleasant and satisfying event and an added assurance to help fund the workings of this community orchestra.

Guests will be greeted by the string sounds of Florence Long, violin and Jen Zeigner, cello, both founding members of South Shore Orchestra. Florence recently was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from SSO celebrating her commitment to helping orchestrate a musical community for 70 years of performing with regional symphonic groups. Jen is the creator and director of the South Shore Youth Orchestra; an ever-expanding symphonic group aged 8-18.

Dozens of silent auction items ranging from fine wines, large format wine, wine accessories, jewelry, artwork and international textiles have been donated by local, national and international sponsors in support of the orchestra’s fundraising for performance and scholarship. SSO performs two major concerts annually as well as several smaller chamber performances. This year SSO will also participate in the UNITY concert performance of Evita in November as well as embark on a second invitational concert tour of China as guests of the Confucius Institute over New Year’s.

SouthShoreOrchestraLogoTickets for this event are $40 each or two for $75 and can be obtained from Pete Brannen at 219-464-7816 or email petebrannen@hotmail.com. Tickets must be purchased before the event.
