Humane Society Calumet Area’s Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center hosts an open house in celebration of its one year anniversary with fun for all ages on April 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the center, 570 N. 450 E., Valparaiso, Ind.
The open house features kids’ activities, cake and beverages, and information about MRWRC and the injured and orphaned wildlife that the center rehabilitates. Visitors also can meet ambassador owl Chloe, a Screech owl used for educational purposes because she is no longer able to survive on her own in the wild due to a previous injury.
Children can create a bird feeder to take home and pick a plant to plant at the center with supplies donated by Jake’s Feed and Garden. Plus, children can go on a bird scavenger hunt using binoculars and a bird reference guide to identify the many bird species that visit the center.
Guests are asked to bring a supply donation from MRWRC’s wish list, which can be found at www.mrwildliferehab.org/wishlist.asp.

About Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center MRWRC was founded in 1997 by a group of wildlife rehabilitators and enthusiasts. Its primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and return orphaned and injured wildlife to the wild.
